She immediately began talking with midwives and was offered an apprenticeship with a homebirth midwife in New Mexico.  After apprenticing for a year, she went on to further her midwifery studies at Maternidad La Luz, a birth center and Midwifery School situated on the Mexican border in El Paso, Texas.  After graduating in 1999 and successfully completing the national exam offered by the North American Registry of Midwives, Emily continued to attend births and served as a Post-Partum Doula for rural, low-income families.

After having her own daughter in 2004, Emily’s focus shifted to Massage Therapy.  She completed the Massage Practitioner Program through Touchstone School of Healing Arts in 2008, received advanced certification in Prenatal and Perinatal Massage and continues furthering her education through accredited workshops. Emily continues to be driven by a strong desire to encourage and support people on their paths toward wellness and feels blessed to be a part of the Cedar Wood team.
